Hamas claims US not actively pressing for ceasefire

Hamas representatives believe that the United States administration is not actively pushing for a ceasefire and hostage deal at the moment, Haaretz reported on Wednesday, citing a Palestinian official. The source said that Hamas expects Washington to start exerting more pressure on Israel after the Israeli military concludes its ground operation in southern Gaza’s city of Rafah and its troops leave the city. Previously, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said that the Rafah operation will end soon while stressing that his government is committed to a ceasefire proposal put forth by US President Joe Biden.
