Grossi says situation at Kursk plant ‘serious’

International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) Director General Rafael Grossi stressed on Tuesday that the situation at the Kursk nuclear plant is “serious.” During his visit to the plant, Grossi underlined that a nuclear power plant must not be an object of military action “under any circumstances” and warned that it should not be used by “any party” for “military purposes.” The agency’s director general observed that while the power plant is currently functioning “close to normal,” there are visible signs of previous drone attacks. Grossi stated that the agency’s teams are currently stationed at “all nuclear facilities in Ukraine” and have not detected any leaks of radioactive materials.
