Putin Says He’s Ready to Discuss Oil, Energy Issues With Trump

Russian President Vladimir Putin said he’s ready to discuss crude oil prices and other energy issues at a face-to-face meeting with US leader Donald Trump.

Both Russia and the US are top global oil producers and consumers, Putin said in an interview with state-owned Rossiya 24 TV. Price movements in the commodity impacts both economies, he said.

“We have a lot to discuss here, and there are other energy issues that might be mutually interesting,” Putin said. “I doubt that Mr. Trump — even if we are hearing about the possibility of additional sanction on Russia — would make decisions that could hurt the US economy.” Putin’s comments follow Trump’s Thursday address to world leaders in Davos, when he urged Saudi Arabia and other members of the Organization of Petroleum Exporting Countries to “bring down the cost of oil.”

“If the price came down, the Russia-Ukraine war would end immediately,” Trump added.

Earlier this week, Trump also stepped up pressure on Russia to make a peace deal with Ukraine “soon,” or else he would “have no other choice” but to impose additional taxes, tariffs and sanctions on Russian imports to the US, along with “other participating countries.” Earlier this month, the US imposed its harshest sanctions so far on Russia’s energy industry, the key source of the Kremlin’s revenue that funds the war in Ukraine. The restrictions could disrupt Russia’s exports of petroleum and reduce the global supply surplus.

NN: This is a very significant development. you need to understand that Russia’s real price for oil is $20 to $30 lower than published.  In the real market for black market Russian oil  massive discounts apply. They have to give enormous price discounts to pay for black market operations. Add the fact their exports quantities are deeply restricted. So obviously they have room for movement.  The war has been fought to stagnation, the losses on both sides are massive. Ukraine  does not have the budget or manpower to continue this war. And the recession in Europe is drying up war donations.  Ukraine has exhausted its goodwill with Trump. He’s not willing to give them more money. So the smartest thing Ukraine can do is realize that it got its ass kicked.  Give Russia the territories they already control and accept the fact Ukraine cannot get back these territories militarily or through negotiating. Arrange the best terms of surrender and everyone goes home happy. I want to  add here that trump has rightly stated that Russia was right to go to war from their perspective. Ukraine was the red line for Putin.  Russia expressed extreme concern about Ukraine becoming a member of NATO.  They do not want NATO taking former Soviet Union territories. There was a signed agreement that  NATO wouldn’t expand into Ukraine. Sleepy Joe ignored that agreement and (after payoffs to his druggie son)  was going  to let Ukraine  join  NATO.   Russia is right,  under a  Trump administration this never would have happened.  Trump back in power now, means peace.  No NATO for Ukraine  and the bonus will be oil prices will fall  back to their normal mean  around $35 for Texas intermediate. Everyone goes home happy, The war is over. The global money drain and the destruction of cities and carnage ends.  Russian assumes sovereign control and assimilates  Russian speaking parts of the Ukraine it has captured. The war ends, the peace dividend is much lower oil prices and we wind down world tensions. Trump gets what he really wants and that is cheap oil to bring down inflation and stimulate the US economy. Trump’s $35 oil and drill baby drill will give him the cash he needs to do great things in America.
