ranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Ismail Baghaei said on Wednesday that sanctions imposed by the United States on Iran’s energy trade are a “bullying and illegal act” and are in contradiction with the Trump administration’s stated aim of negotiating a nuclear deal with Tehran. Baghaei said the US has demonstrated a “lack of goodwill and seriousness” by continuing to target the Iranian economy and that it “must be held accountable for the gross violations of human rights resulting from these criminal actions.”
US sanctions Iranian gas shipping network
The United States Department of State announced on Tuesday that it is sanctioning Iranian national Seyed Asadoollah Emamjomeh and his shipping network transporting liquified petroleum gas (LPG). The US claimed Emamjomeh is responsible for exporting “hundreds of millions of dollars’ worth” of Iranian LPG and crude oil to foreign markets. The newest designation is part of the Trump administration’s policy of “maximum pressure” on the Tehran regime. The State Department said Iranian companies “continually adapt their networks to evade sanctions and sell to foreign customers,” adding that the US will continue to sanction businesses that fund Iran’s “destabilizing conduct.”
