Yields on United States Treasuries rose on Wednesday, with the yield on the 30-year bond reaching the highest level since October 2023, as investors worried a new tax bill could significantly increase the country’s deficit. The yield on the 30-year Treasury was up 11.1 basis points to 5.077% at 1:27 pm ET. The yield on the benchmark 10-year note was up 12 basis points to 4.605% at 1:31 pm ET and the 2-year yield increased by 5.2 basis points to 4.022% at the same time. Bond futures, which move in the opposite direction to yields rose, with the 2-year note futures down 0.08% at 1:24 pm ET, the 10-year note futures falling 0.52% and the 30-year Treasury futures sliding 1.22% at the same time.
