Russian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Maria Zakharova said Ukraine’s proposed security guarantees would pose a threat to Europe. Speaking at the Eastern Economic Forum, Zakharova argued the plans are designed to keep Ukraine as a base for actions against Russia. She rejected any discussion of foreign troop deployments to Ukraine, calling such moves “fundamentally unacceptable.” Zakharova said Russia will not consider “foreign interference in Ukraine” in any form or format. “They are not guarantees of Ukraine’s security, they are guarantees of danger to the European continent,” the spokeswoman said.
