Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu said Thursday that US President Donald Trump could succeed in securing a new agreement with Iran, citing Tehran’s weakened position. “The president believes that the Iranians now understand who they are dealing with,” Netanyahu said before departing Washington, Axios said. “I think the conditions he is setting, combined with their understanding that they made a mistake last time by not reaching an agreement, could lead them to accept terms that would make it possible to achieve a good deal,” Netanyahu added. He noted his “general skepticism” about Iran deals but stressed any accord must address ballistic missiles and regional proxies, not just nuclear issues. He described his White House meeting with Trump, his “great friend,” as “excellent.” The two also discussed Gaza.
