Israel is concerned that Iran would use the 60 days planned for further nuclear-themed negotiations with the United States to advance its program, Israeli Channel 12 reported on Tuesday.
According to senior Israeli officials familiar with the matter, the country fears that Iranian Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei does not want Washington and Tehran to reach a final agreement on the latter’s nuclear status.
They added that Israel estimated that Iran agreed to the memorandum of understanding (MoU) with the US to open the Straight of Hormuz and have sanctions against it removed. Earlier in the day, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said that a MoU would come into force on Friday. He added that the next round of negotiations with the US would begin on the same day.
