Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said on Friday that vessels owned by companies that “cooperate” with the United States will be “punished,” including through sanctions. It stressed that the measure could include “routes it considers unauthorized,” extending beyond the Strait of Hormuz, according to Iran International.The IRGC added that it targeted a liquefied petroleum gas carrier south of Hormuz for using an “illegal” route. The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations reported a vessel was hit off the coast of the United Arab Emirates, although it is unclear whether it is the same incident.
UK reports vessel struck off UAE coast
The United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations (UKMTO) said on Friday that it received reports from multiple sources about a vessel being hit in the Strait of Hormuz, 13 nautical miles west of Al Jazirah Al Hamra in the United Arab Emirates. The ship was reportedly hit by an unidentified projectile, which started a fire. The fire has since been extinguished, but there is currently no information on potential casualties, damage and environmental impact.
Zelensky: Ukraine struck two Russian oil refineries
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky announced in a social media post on Friday that his country’s armed forces struck two Russian oil refineries, one in Omsk and another in Ukhta, 1,900 kilometers from Ukraine’s state border. “The target in Ukhta was hit by An-196 RS drones, which can fly about 2,500 kilometers, while FP-6 drones (modified FP-1s) were used against the Omsk refinery the day before,” Zelensky wrote on X.
