Following a slightly lower open on Monday, the Dow Jones Industrial Average index later jumped over 250 points to cross the 35,000-point mark for the first time since January 20. Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic, explaining earlier remarks he had made, said that the United States Federal Reserve would not prefer increasing the key United States interest rate by 50 basis points at its next meeting in March, seemingly causing market fears about potentially intense monetary tightening policy to diminish. The Dow Jones was up 0.77% or 266 points at 2:32 pm ET. The Nasdaq 100 gained 2.55% and the S&P 500 rose by 1.43% at the same time .
