Kremlin Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov affirmed on Friday that Russia wants a peaceful settlement to the Ukrainian conflict, but warned that Moscow will continue military operations should Ukraine refuse to negotiate. In an interview with Russia Today, Peskov noted that the Russian pro-peace position was previously rejected by “Europeans and Ukrainians,” prompting Russian President Vladimir Putin to launch the military action. “Therefore, if we are unable to resolve the problem and achieve our goals through peaceful means, we will continue the SVO [special military operation] and do everything necessary to protect our interests,” he explained. Peskov also touched upon Putin’s ongoing state visit to India, noting that India has a “fairly balanced approach and is pro-peace” and that Moscow has a chance to discuss all nuances of its position during the dialogue between Putin and Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi.
Crypto $200 Billion Crash as believers burnt pretty bad
Crypto’s riskiest tokens are crashing on a scale that stands out even by the industry’s own volatile standards, abandoned by retail speculators saddled with humiliating losses and a growing sense the game is rigged. Cryptocurrencies beyond Bitcoin have been hit hardest in the market downturn that kicked off early October. A MarketVector index tracking 50 mid- and micro-cap tokens has fallen nearly 70% this year, hitting its weakest level since early 2020. Altcoins have now shed $200 billion on paper since the market peaked.
The retail tide that once lifted everything from Trump-branded coins to dog-theme tokens is no more.
“For years, many tokens appreciated simply because of market cycles rather than real progress – and that era is ending,” said Shuyao Kong, who is building a new blockchain platform called Megaeth. “Today it’s influenced by cypherpunks, traders, Wall Street institutions, and even politics. No single narrative moves the market anymore, and the rise of traditional valuation frameworks is unsettling for some. Daily volumes for small- and mid-cap crypto derivatives on Hyperliquid — an altcoin trading hub specializing in perpetual futures — have thinned sharply since October’s crash.
The crypto world is in turmoil, and the Trump family’s altcoin adventures are no exception. After raking in billions from MAGA supporters who thought they’d strike it rich, Trump’s World Liberty Financial (WLFI) token has tanked over 50% from its peak. Now, as those billions vanish into thin air and altcoins bleed value, the Trump administration is scrambling. In a last-ditch move, they’ve nudged the SEC to fast-track more Bitcoin IPO approvals—an act of sheer desperation to TRY and save Trump’s multi-billion-dollar crypto gamble. After all, Trump Media and the Trump brand cashed in big time selling these coins to unwitting investors, and now the house of cards is tumbling down. The best is yet to come.
Putin: We’ll take Donbass by military means or otherwise
Russian President Vladimir Putin said in snippets from his interview with India Today, to be aired later on Thursday, that his country will take control of Donbass and Novorossiya by either military means or other methods. “It all comes down to this. Either we will liberate these territories by force of arms, or Ukrainian troops will leave these territories and stop fighting there,” Putin stressed. Furthermore, the Russian leader revealed that Moscow offered Kiev the opportunity to withdraw from Donbas and prevent military confrontation, but the Ukrainian authorities chose to enter into conflict. “We immediately told Ukraine, the Ukrainian troops: the people don’t want to live with you. They went out to the referendum and voted for independence. Withdraw your troops, and there will be no military action. No, they prefer to fight. Well, now they’ve had enough,” Putin emphasized.
NN: When you look at it beyond the spin its very simple. Trump is negotiating peace and Putin is negotiating Ukraine’s surrender
Bitcoin Hits Two-Week High
Bitcoin extended a tentative rebound on Wednesday, climbing to a two-week high as traders look for signs that the wider crypto market may be regaining its footing after a prolonged selloff. The original cryptocurrency rose as much as 2.6% to about $93,965, its highest intraday level since Nov. 17. It later lost some of those gains, trading at around $93,380 in early morning in New York. Ether and other major tokens also edged higher. The digital assets market remains on shaky ground after a bruising selloff that began in early October, just days after Bitcoin hit a record of over $126,000. Since then, more than $1 trillion in crypto market value has been wiped out. Still, a measure of optimism is appearing with investors hoping the recovery can build. “Bitcoin fans will be rightly cautious about this rally in the cryptocurrency, having seen so many false dawns in recent months, but it looks like the recovery in stock market risk appetite is finally leaching across into the crypto space,” Chris Beauchamp, UK chief market analyst at investment and trading platform IG, said in a note. “Last week’s bounce faltered at $93,000, so with the price nudging above this in early trading there is some hope of a more sustained move higher.” Crypto traders have endured a bumpy ride this week. Token prices tumbled on Monday following comments by Strategy Inc.’s Chief Executive Officer Phong Le that the Bitcoin accumulator could resort to selling the cryptocurrency if needed to make debt payments. Strategy, formerly known as MicroStrategy, said later that it was establishing a $1.4 billion reserve to have cash readily available. (chump change in this market) Bitcoin then regained ground Tuesday, with traders pointing to Securities and Exchange Commission Chairman Paul Atkins’ plan to unveil the measures behind an “innovation exemption” for digital asset companies, and Vanguard Group’s decision to allow exchange-traded funds and mutual funds that primarily hold cryptocurrencies to be traded on its platform. Those events, coupled with a new bottom emerging for Bitcoin this week, have created “a series of vital signs of an upward trend forming,” according to FxPro’s Chief Market Analyst Alex Kuptsikevich. Even so, caution has persisted, with some suggesting that investors bruised by the downturn may be reluctant to chase the move. “We don’t see a ton of buyers on the top side,” said Sean McNulty, APAC derivatives trading lead at FalconX. “Sentiment is still fragile.” One barometer of investor confidence is the group of 12 US-listed ETFs investing in Bitcoin, which recorded what McNulty called a “feeble” $59 million inflow on Tuesday, according to data compiled by Bloomberg. The latest rally has led to liquidations of about $400 million worth of bearish bets across all tokens in the past 24 hours, Coinglass data shows. “This rebound is actually just a relief rally,” said Melvin Deng, chief executive officer of QCP Group, in an interview on Bloomberg TV. But Bitcoin could “reclaim some momentum” from here, he added. “This is a great point for those who are under-deployed to look at some entry level.”

The 26-Minute, 51% Wipeout That Deepened Trumps’ Crypto Losses
The crash Tuesday in the crypto miner American Bitcoin Corp. was instantaneous. At 9:31 a.m. on Wall Street, just one minute after trading started, its shares were down 33%. Five minutes later, losses had ballooned to 42% and then, by 9:56 a.m., to more than 50%.It was all so spectacular that American Bitcoin quickly became the symbol of not just the crypto market wipeout of late 2025 but also the collapse of the myriad ventures that the Trump family has been promoting in the digital-currency world over the past year. For as much as broader crypto markets have sunk these past two months — roughly 25% in the case of bellwether Bitcoin — projects that are tied to the Trump family are down far, far more. World Liberty Financial, co-founded by President Donald Trump and his sons, has seen its WLFI token tumble 51% from its peak in early September, more than both Bitcoin and an index of smaller digital tokens. Alt5 Sigma, a company promoted by the Trump sons, has plunged around 75% as it deals with a growing number of legal problems.
Then there are the memecoins named after the president and his wife, Melania, which have fallen around 90% and 99% respectively from their record highs back in January. American Bitcoin, which was co-founded by Eric Trump, is now down 75% after the big drop on Tuesday. It rose 11% in US pre-market trading on Wednesday.
Trump-Crypto Premium Disappears
The Trump family’s crypto plays have fallen sharper than actual token prices
These moves have put a big dent in the huge piles of crypto wealth that the first family amassed earlier in the year. But they also carry a broader significance for both the digital asset industry and the president’s public image. Trump’s embrace helped boost a wide array of crypto tokens during the early months of his second term and turned the price of Bitcoin into a marker of his political success.

These projects were all helped by policies and regulatory changes that Trump promoted, led by legislation that aimed to bring crypto stablecoins, tied to the value of the dollar, into the mainstream. But the signs of trouble have been mounting over time. The memecoins that were launched right before the inauguration, with lots of promotional muscle from Trump himself, have steadily lost money over time, with just occasional moments of relief, like the rally in April after the president offered to join some of the biggest holders of the coin for dinner.

SEC expects crypto exemption ‘in a month or so’
United States Securities and Exchange Commission (SEC) Chair Paul S Atkins said on Tuesday that he expects the innovation exemption related to cryptocurrencies to be unveiled “in a month or so.” “We were impeded a bit by the government shutdown. Obviously, we couldn’t work on things during that time, but we’re on track, and we will be able to forge forward with a crypto area and make sure that we are able to embrace this new area of innovation that, for too long, the United States basically has just pushed back against,” Atkins told CNBC in an interview. The SEC chair also announced new policies that are set to be implemented in the new year, which aim to enhance market conditions for initial public offerings (IPOs).

Third Russian Shadow Fleet Tanker Hit By Explosions In African Waters
A tanker carrying Russian gasoil was hit by multiple explosions off the coast of Senegal, marking the third case in recent days. The Mersin had made several calls at Russian ports this year before it met its fate on Monday. The vessel was later stabilized and placed under tow, with reports that crew members were safe. Gasoil is a fuel used for non-road applications like agricultural machinery, construction equipment, generators, and some heating systems. Ukrainian naval drones have been attacking sanctioned tankers in the Black Sea in recent weeks as Kyiv piles on the pressure on Russia’s vast oil industry. Last week, two oil tankers sailing to Novorossiysk, a major Russian Black Sea oil terminal, were hit, with Ukraine’s SBU security service later telling CNN that upgraded Sea Baby naval drones were used to attack the vessels in a joint SBU and naval operation. Identified as the Kairos and Virat, the two oil tankers sustained extensive damage and were effectively taken out of service. Kyiv has repeatedly urged the West to take action against Russia’s shadow fleet, which is helping move Russian oil around global markets and fund its war in Ukraine. Last month, the Trump administration announced fresh sanctions targeting Russia’s oil and gas giants, Rosneft and Lukoil. On Sunday, Ukraine delegates held peace talks in Washington, with U.S. special envoy Steve Witkoff now set to travel to Moscow for talks on Tuesday. However, whether or not Moscow will acquiesce to the newly proposed peace plan remains to be seen. The Trump administration has drafted a new 19-point peace plan that’s far more favorable to Ukraine compared to the original 28-point plan that heavily favored Russia. Some of the critical amendments in the new plan include no handover of the Donbas region to Russia for free, no automatic veto on Ukraine joining NATO in the future, and provision of Article 5-style protection for Ukraine, meaning the U.S. would be bound to intervene if Russia invades in the future. A proposal for full amnesty for war crimes that was part of the first plan has also been removed.

Bitcoin drops over 4% to just above $86,000
Bitcoin slid more than 4%, dropping from the mid-$90,000 range to a session low of $86,172. Last week, Bitcoin hit its lowest level since April, then recovered toward $90,000 after the Federal Reserve signaled support for another interest rate cut. That recovery proved short-lived as renewed selling now pushed the digital asset back toward $86,000. At 10:56 pm ET, the world’s most famous cryptocurrency was trading at $86,356.590, down 4.44%, while Ether was priced at $2,827.8169, reflecting a 5.49% drop.

Oil up 1% amid OPEC+ production plan
Crude oil prices rose more than 1% on Monday after the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries and its partners (OPEC+) confirmed its plans to halt the output hike until March 2026 due to “seasonality.” Additionally, the Caspian Pipeline Consortium said it decided to halt operations after Ukrainian drones attacked its terminal on the Black Sea near Novorossiysk, causing severe damage.

Zelensky’s aide says he won’t give up territory….. Trump may recognise occupied Ukraine as part of Russia
Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky’s Office Head Andriy Yermak said in an interview with The Atlantic released on Thursday that the Ukrainian leader will not give up territory in the ongoing peace negotiations. “As long as Zelensky is president, no one should count on us giving up territory. He will not sign away territory,” Yermak stressed, adding that “not a single sane person” would sign a document relinquishing part of the territory “unless they want to go against the Ukrainian constitution and the Ukrainian people.” The official noted that Ukraine is only willing to discuss where to trace the line to delimit what the belligerent parties control. “All we can realistically talk about right now is really to define the line of contact,” he emphasized.
