Iran pauses attacks as US halts strikes…. T A C O!

Iranian army spokesman Amir Akraminia said on Sunday that Tehran paused its retaliatory operations because Washington halted its own strikes over the previous two nights. “Americans stopped their attacks over the past two nights. Since our strategy has been entirely retaliatory, we also stopped our retaliatory operations,” he stated. Akraminia added that US strategy appears confused, citing contradictory signals from US President Donald Trump and the US Central Command (CENTCOM). He warned that any continued US strikes would widen the war, noting that fighting has already reached the Bab el-Mandeb Strait. The spokesman urged clarity from US officials to avoid further regional escalation.

Trump Seethes as Iran War Spirals Anew With No End in Sight

President Donald Trump has increasingly flashed frustration with the war in Iran, as the conflict that his team once predicted would end in a matter of weeks stretches into its fifth month and fighting intensifies. The war’s seemingly intractable new chapter has unleashed fresh economic turmoil and driven up energy prices, which threatens to further imperil Republicans’ already dim prospects in the November midterm elections. Yet since his ceasefire with Iran collapsed, Trump has voiced anger about recent US casualties and expressed skepticism about returning to negotiations. A leader who has long resisted the path of retreat, Trump has now gone into revenge mode against the Islamic Republic, according to one ally who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss his thinking. The president is frustrated with the state of the war and is looking to exact a toll on Iran, said another person familiar with the matter. The developments show the conflict the US launched alongside Israel in late February has become more than Trump bargained for. The president in March declared his in-and-out operation in Venezuela was the “perfect scenario” for Iran. That same month, Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth insisted the US was not getting bogged down in “a forever war or a quagmire.” Nonetheless, the president’s months-long efforts to pressure Tehran into negotiations have failed to yield a lasting peace. The unpopular conflict now threatens to become a defining feature of Trump’s presidency. He posts about it frequently on social media and mentions it in almost all of his public appearances. During an event Thursday at the Environmental Protection Agency, he suggested he had to leave for a White House meeting about next steps. Trump told attendees that he had built the “greatest military anywhere in the world” and conceded “we’re using it a little more than I thought, but that’s alright.” He told reporters on Friday that he had not yet made a decision on whether to launch new major strikes.

Iran said to set new Israeli targets if strikes resume

Iran is preparing a new list of targets inside Israel in case the conflict between the two countries resumes, Al-Jazeera reported on Saturday, citing an Iranian security source. According to the source, the new targets would be those that could not be repaired or rebuilt for years, and targeting them would “accelerate emigration from Israel.” The report comes after Iranian officials warned that any attack on Pickaxe Mountain, an underground fortified facility currently under construction, located near Iran’s Natanz nuclear complex, would trigger a heavy response, including strikes on Israel, even if the United States carried out the attack without Israeli help. US President Donald Trump previously warned that US forces will “be hitting that area very probably pretty soon,” as the site is suspected to host parts of Iran’s enriched uranium.

Iran claims attacks on US bases in Jordan, Iraq

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement on Friday its forces targeted a United States military base, including several fighter jets, in Jordan in the latest attacks, adding that many American soldiers were wounded and killed. The IRGC went on to claim that a US base, as well as a Patriot air defense system and a spy balloon, at Erbil Air Base in Iraq’s Kurdistan region, were “destroyed.” Furthermore, the IRGC insisted that the US administration is hiding the exact number of servicemen killed so far in the war against Iran.

NN: It is obvious that the drones are kicking the shit out of US bases. Planes are gone and only skeleton  crews are manning what it left of any on the ground assets.

IRGC claims remaining Amazon facility destroyed

Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed on Friday that it had destroyed the remaining building of Amazon’s data center. “In Wave 27 of Operation Nasr 2, and in continuation of their previous operation against the data center of the American company Amazon, which plays a primary role in gathering intelligence for the child-killing American army, the fighters of Islam targeted and destroyed the remaining building of this facility,” the IRGC statement on Telegram read. On Tuesday, the IRGC said it had struck Amazon data center infrastructure in Bahrain in retaliation for a US attack on Iran’s Darkhovin nuclear power plant. In March, Amazon confirmed that its data centers in Bahrain and the United Arab Emirates were damaged in Iranian drone attacks.

Trump: US will use Iranian money to pay for ship damages

United States President Donald Trump announced that, “from this point forth,” Washington will be using Iranian money it “controls” to pay for all damages done to ships, cargo, or anything related. The frozen assets will cover the damages “until further notice,” Trump wrote on Truth Social. “These damages may be very substantial but, nevertheless, this is the fair and equitable thing to do,” he added.

NN:  I feel a lot better knowing they will pay for the ships destroyed. Will they make up for the 2 billion barrels of oil they have held off the market?

Trump may approve ‘massive’ attack on Iran

US President Donald Trump told Axios on Thursday he was seriously thinking about resuming military actions against Iran that would be larger than the scope of the previous “Operation Epic Fury.”

“I am considering a massive attack. Bigger than ever before. I am close to making a decision. We are all set for it,”

Axios quoted him as saying. Trump said he was “close” to making a decision but stressed that no final call had been made. The outlet added that the military has not received new orders, citing two US officials. The Republican president went on to add that Israel would join the operation if requested, although he claimed the US doesn’t “need anybody.” He warned that Israeli participation could trigger Iranian retaliation, while repeating that Tehran wants to negotiate but is not yet prepared to reach an agreement.

Oil up 3% as Houthis escalate Middle East conflict

Crude oil prices rose more than 3% on Thursday after Yemen’s Houthi rebels targeted Saudi Arabia’s oil tankers in a combined missile-drone attack. In addition, Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) claimed that a vessel trying to transit through the southern mine-laid route off the coast of Oman was set alight. US President Donald Trump previously warned that US forces will bomb an Iranian bridge or a power plant every time Iran strikes a ship in the Strait of Hormuz. West Texas Intermediate (WTI) for deliveries in September jumped 3.18% to sell for $89.59 per barrel at 3:38 am ET. A minute later, Brent for the same month’s settlements surged 3.92%, going for $97.84 per barrel.

US said to inform Israel of plans to intensify Iran strikes

Washington has supposedly informed Israel of its plans to intensify attacks on Iran in the coming days, employing some heavy bombers not used since the conflict started, Israeli Kan News reported on Wednesday. The news outlet also reported that Israel raised an alert about the possibility of a confrontation with Iran in case of an escalation, following United States President Donald Trump’s previous threats. In addition, various media reports claimed that multiple US B-1 Lancer bombers were seen leaving the RAF Fairford air base in the UK last night, after Trump commented yesterday on the possibility of Iran relocating its nuclear centrifuges to Pickaxe Mountain, stating the US military will hit that area “pretty soon” and “very heavily.”

Shipping insider says ‘nothing going through’ Hormuz

Dimitris Maniatis, CEO of Greek maritime risk management firm Marisks, told CBS News on Wednesday that while the Strait of Hormuz route remains physically open, large international merchant vessels are effectively staying away. “There’s nothing physically obstructing the navigation of any vessel willing to transit the strait, and there are vessels that trade locally and are entirely unaffected by everything that’s going on; however, if we’re talking about large ocean-going, internationally-owned and operated merchant vessels, nothing is going through,” Maniatis said. The report also mentioned that commercial traffic through the Strait of Hormuz has fallen sharply as vessel operators avoid the key waterway amid ongoing Iranian attacks on ships, citing the Joint Maritime Information Center in Bahrain, which said crossings dropped to a three-week low.
