G7 FMs discuss further sanctions on Russia

Foreign Ministers of the G7 countries issued a joint statement on Wednesday and addressed global issues, including the war in Ukraine, the humanitarian crisis in Gaza and the question of nuclear energy in Iran. The ministers met at the sidelines of the ongoing United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York and expressed concerns over the alleged Russian airspace violations in Estonia,  Poland and Romania. Further economic sanctions on Russia were discussed, as well as action against “third-country enablers.” The statement urged Iran to respect the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT), continue its cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) and engage in talks with the United States, aiming to reach a nuclear agreement. The ministers also condemned Hamas and called for an immediate ceasefire in Gaza. The statement further opposed using “force or coercion” across the Taiwan Strait and called for denuclearization of North Korea.

And more recently attacking Poland and Finland. They did nothin as they failed to stop N.Korea becoming a nuclear  power. They had endless meetings and did nothing as Iran has become the defacto Father and banker of worldwide terrorism. Including the Houthis, Hamas, Hezbollah Islamic Brother Hood to name a few. And for good measure allowed Iran to become the supplier of ICBM”s and soon nuclear war heads to terrorists states and drug lords word wide.

Trump: NATO should shoot down Russian jets in their airspace…… Trump, in rhetorical shift, says Ukraine can retake all its land

UNITED NATIONS, Sept 23  U.S. President Donald Trump said on Tuesday he believed Ukraine could retake all its land occupied by Russia and that Kyiv should act now with Moscow facing “big” economic problems, in a sudden and striking rhetorical shift in Ukraine’s favor. But there was no sign that Trump’s words would be matched by a change in U.S. policy, such as a decision to impose the heavy new sanctions on Moscow sought by Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy as he traveled to New York this week.  “Putin and Russia are in BIG Economic trouble, and this is the time for Ukraine to act,” Trump wrote on Truth Social, shortly after meeting Zelenskiy on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly in New York. “After seeing the Economic trouble (the war) is causing Russia, I think Ukraine, with the support of the European Union, is in a position to fight and WIN all of Ukraine back in its original form,” he said. That would ostensibly require Kyiv to expel Russian forces from 20% of its territory, including the Crimean peninsula Moscow has held since 2014, in what would be an extraordinary reversal.
Europe’s foreign policy chief, Kaja Kallas, praised Trump’s statements, saying: “These have been very strong statements that we haven’t heard before in such formats, so it is really good that we are in the same understanding now.”
The U.S. president’s tone was in stark contrast to his red-carpet treatment for Russian President Vladimir Putin at a summit in Alaska last month, part of an ostensible push to expedite an end to Russia’s war in Ukraine.
Zelenskiy told reporters at a briefing that he had a “good, constructive” meeting with Trump, declining to go into detail, while praising Trump’s statement on Truth Social as a “big shift.” Zelenskiy later told Fox News that he thought the positions of the Ukrainian and U.S. teams were “closer than any time before,” and that he thought Trump’s position had changed. The U.S. statement criticized Russia, saying it had been fighting “aimlessly” in a war that a “real military power” would have won in less than a week. That, Trump added, made Russia look very much like a “paper tiger”. Addressing the General Assembly earlier, Trump said he was ready to impose strong economic measures if Russia did not end its war, but that allies would have to do the same. He also derided some European powers for continuing to buy Russian oil.

Iran: Discussing nuclear issues with US ‘absolute deadlock’

Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei addressed the nation on Tuesday, stating that negotiating with the United States on nuclear and other issues “is an absolute deadlock.” “The US … reneges on its promises whenever it can, bombs our nuclear sites, kills our commanders. You can’t sit for talks with such a party,” Khamenei commented, adding that talks are “useful for [United States President Donald] Trump, as he boasts about bringing Iran to the table.” He went on to say that holding discussions with Washington will bring Tehran “no benefits,” and will only “cause irreparable damage.”

Trump urges EU to stop buying Russian energy

United States President Donald Trump used his address before the United Nations General Assembly on Tuesday to put pressure on European nations to stop buying Russian energy, saying that it is “embarrassing” and accusing them of “funding the war against themselves.” He said the US is ready to impose a “very strong round of powerful tariffs” on Russia, but that Europe must do the same, and added that he will discuss the issue with European leaders on the sidelines of the assembly.

Trump also spoke about the Israel-Hamas conflict, stressing that Hamas has “repeatedly rejected reasonable offers to make peace” and insisted that the world should not forget the October 7, 2023, terror attack carried out by Hamas that started the conflict. He criticized countries that have recognized the Palestinian state in recent days, stating that they did it “as if to encourage continued conflict” and claiming it would be a reward for “atrocities” committed by Hamas.

Crude Glut Predictions Is Fake news

  • Forecasts of an oil glut clash with reality.
  • Prices stay stable because sanctions on Russia and China’s ongoing crude imports/storage keep supply-demand tighter than forecasters assume.
  • With OPEC+ limits, U.S. producers easing growth, and geopolitical pressures, downside risks are capped.

A looming oversupply of crude oil is going to cause prices to take a dive as the world moves on to alternatives to hydrocarbons and economic growth remains weak. This has been the message from virtually every price forecaster for months. Yet benchmark oil prices have remained remarkably stable. Some call it a mystery. Yet there is nothing mysterious about it. Forecasts do not reflect real-life supply and demand.

Macquarie   global energy strategist  Vikas Dwivedi, said   “There is a bit of a mystery the whole marketplace is looking for enormous surpluses and yet the price isn’t buckling. Instead of $67 a barrel, why are we not looking at $47 a barrel?” There are two likely reasons why we are not looking at $47 a barrel.

One of these reasons is the EU’s and the United States’ continued efforts to decimate Russia’s energy export income via additional sanctions. Since Russia is the second-largest oil producer in the world, right before Saudi Arabia, disruption in its oil flows will affect the global balance of supply and demand—and analysts know it. So do forecasters. However, they are downplaying such geopolitical risks in favor of the argument that the electrification of transport and weak economic growth in many key markets are undermining oil demand. Supply, meanwhile, is growing, according to the forecasters, and apparently this supply growth is completely disconnected from prices—which it obviously is not. The second reason why prices are not down all the way to $47 a barrel is China. Millions of words have been spent on media reports suggesting China‘s oil demand is close to peaking, and afterwards it will drop off a cliff. China, meanwhile, has been stocking up on crude, even with weakening demand growth, which is a fact, after over two decades of leaps and bounds. Indeed,

Reuters’ Clyde Russell noted in a recent column that China’s crude oil imports have been on the rise since March this year, even if some of the crude goes into storage rather than refineries. Indeed, per Russell, “from March onwards China has been importing crude at a far higher rate than it needs to meet its domestic fuel requirements.” This has, in turn, been keeping international oil prices stable and higher than many would like to see them, including President Donald Trump, who had cheap gas on his agenda when he took office. On the other hand,

Trump strongly believes that hurting Russia’s oil export revenues would speed up the end of hostilities in Ukraine. That, however, would push prices higher, which may be why he has been in no rush to impose additional sanctions on Russia’s energy industry—unlike the EU, which just did, facing an even higher energy bill as it voluntarily gives up Russian oil.

Oxford Energy addressed this aspect of the oil market in a recent report, dispelling rumors of an impending glut by citing storage numbers that show no sign of oversupply. Floating storage, for instance, is below the levels reached in 2022, when everyone rushed to prepare for the anti-Russian sanctions. OECD stocks, often used as a reference point for forecasts, are below the five-year average, meaning consumption is quite healthy. One final indicator of stronger-than-expected demand comes again from China, in the form of lower fuel exports, cited by Oxford Economics.

Reuters’ Ron Bousso called “blind spots” on the market that make it increasingly difficult for traders to glean the facts about supply-demand balance. They will remain stable for the observable future as well, as geopolitical factors continue to push them higher, while forecasts of a glut curb the upside, regardless of whether there are signs of such a glut about to materialize.

EU: Russia to keep provoking as long as it can…… Wadephul Russian jet incursion was ‘dangerous escalation’

European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas addressed the United Nations Security Council (UNSC) on Monday, stating that Russia will continue with its provocations “as long as we allow it [to do so.]” “It cannot be that Russia ‘accidentally’ violates [European airspace] three times in two weeks. And if it was a mistake, there has been plenty of time for the Russian Federation to apologize … Instead, we see a pattern,” she commented. The EU official said that Moscow is testing the European borders, “probing our resolve.”

Wadephul: Russian jet incursion was ‘dangerous escalation’

German Foreign Minister Johann Wadephul stated on Monday that the “incursion” of three Russian fighter jets into Estonian airspace was a “further dangerous escalation” and a “grave violation of international law.” “The incursion came just over a week after more than 20 Russian drones had entered Polish airspace. Once again, in Estonia, Russia violated, without any provocation, the territorial integrity of one of its neighbors, and thus one of the fundamental principles of the UN [United Nations] charter,” Wadephul said during an emergency meeting of the UN Security Council (UNSC) adding that “Russia’s ongoing aggression is not only directed against Ukraine and its people; rather, in its reckless behaviour, Russia poses serious danger to regional security as well as to global peace and stability.” During the same meeting, the United Kingdom’s Foreign Secretary Yvette Cooper warned that if it is needed, NATO will confront Russian planes “operating in NATO airspace without permission.”

UK, NATO to confront Russian jets ‘if we need to’

British jets are ready to “confront” Russian planes violating Nato airspace, the Foreign Secretary has told the UN, as she accused Moscow of risking “direct armed confrontation”. Yvette Cooper condemned recent Russian incursions into Nato airspace as she addressed the UN Security Council for the first time as Foreign Secretary. She said: “They are a deliberate attempt to undermine the territorial integrity of sovereign nations and European security. “They risk miscalculation. They open the door to direct armed confrontation between Nato and Russia.” On September 19, three Russian jets entered Estonian airspace without permission, remaining there for 12 minutes and being intercepted by Italian aircraft operating as part of Nato’s Eastern Sentry mission. The incursion followed similar incidents in Poland and Romania in which Russian drones were intercepted or shot down over Nato territory. Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk said his country was the closest to “open conflict” it had been since the Second World War, while the EU’s high representative on foreign affairs warned Russia was “testing the West’s resolve”. In response to the done incursion over Poland, the UK announced that RAF Typhoon jets would also take part in Eastern Sentry, flying their first mission over Poland late on September 19. Speaking at the UN on Monday, Ms Cooper said: “Our alliance is defensive, but be under no illusion, we stand ready to take all steps necessary to defend NATO’s skies and NATO’s territory. “We are vigilant. We are resolute. And if we need to confront planes that are operating in Nato airspace without permission, then we will do so.”

Kremlin accuses Europe of fueling war in Ukraine…… Putin: Russia ready to respond to any threats

Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said European states are doing all they can to escalate tensions in Ukraine and to urge Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to keep fighting. “They are doing everything possible to continue the war and in every way encourage Zelensky to do so,” he said on the Rossiya 1 television channel. Peskov added that Russian President Vladimir Putin remains open to negotiating a peaceful settlement and wants to continue working with the United States on the issue.

Putin: Russia ready to respond to any threats

Russian President Vladimir Putin assured on Monday that Moscow is ready to respond to any existing or emerging threats. “This response will not be just verbal, but through the use of military-technical measures,” Putin said during a Security Council meeting, adding that Russia can rely on “the effectiveness of its deterrent forces.” Furthermore, the Russian leader emphasized that Moscow prefers to resolve any issue through diplomacy rather than through military conflict. “Russia has always believed and continues to believe that political and diplomatic methods for maintaining international peace are preferable and prioritized based on the principles of equality, indivisibility of security, and mutual consideration of interests,” he pointed out.

Trump: Europe has to stop buying Russian oil… NATO is at war with Russia

United States President Donald Trump said at the American Cornerstone Institute Founder’s Dinner that Europe must stop buying Russian oil “The Europeans are buying oil from Russia, it’s not supposed to happen,” Trump said, adding that “[US Representative to NATO Matt Whitaker] won’t let it happen much longer.” Two weeks ago, the president urged the EU to cease buying Russian oil.
