Independent oil producers in the United States informed the Organization of the Petroleum Exporting Countries (OPEC) that they stand ready to cut its crude output voluntary, sources told The Wall Street Journal on Friday. Meanwhile, the US Department of Energy is putting efforts to persuade Russia to agree on a deal with Saudi Arabia-led OPEC to cut oil production. However, Moscow will not make a decision on further reduction in crude output until United States President Donald Trump meets with US-based oil companies, according to the report. Previously, another report said that members of OPEC+ may discuss cutting oil output by at least 6 million barrels per day at a meeting that is reportedly expected to occur next week.
