Dow closes up over 650 pts as Microsoft, J&J lead

United States stock markets finished the trading session on Monday higher despite concerns related to the COVID-19 pandemic. National guidelines for social distancing were extended last night until April 30 as United States President Donald Trump said: “We shouldn’t declare victory and then not have victory.” Trump also agreed with his Russian counterpart Vladimir Putin that discussions between the two countries about the oil prices will continue at a ministerial level. The Dow Industrial Average was up 3.19% at the closing bell, gaining 690 points. Johnson & Johnson was the best performer with a rise of 7.95%. Microsoft Corp rose over 7% at the close. The Nasdaq 100 increased by 3.96% with Autodesk increasing by 10.13%. The S&P 500 jumped 3.35%. Universal Health Services Inc led the way with the 12.38% rise.
