The prices of precious metals continued to grow on Monday, with gold reaching a new all-time high as the ongoing shutdown of the United States government and the potential layoffs that may result from it caused investors to turn to safe-haven assets.
Gold jumped by 1.64% to go for $3,950 per ounce at 10:14 am ET, while silver gained 1.20% and went for $48.59 per ounce at 10:24 am ET. Meanwhile, platinum rose by 3.41% to $1,636.93 per ounce at 10:24 am ET, and palladium increased by 3.40% at the same time, going for $1,275.57 per ounce.
