Iran: No plan to let IAEA visit nuclear sites hit in war

Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmail Baghaei said on Tuesday that the country’s authorities have no plan to allow the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) inspectors to visit nuclear plants that were targeted during the war against the United States and Israel.

The day before, US Vice President JD Vance stated that Iran agreed to invite IAEA inspectors back to the country, describing the move as “a major milestone for the American people and the first step in permanently denuclearizing” Iran.

Baghaei further warned the US against “arrogant rhetoric,” stressing that the memorandum of understanding reached between Washington and Tehran must be based on “mutual respect and reality.” “If power is not proven in war, it will not be proven through exaggeration after agreement either … any self-congratulatory narrative constructed to compensate for past failures will, above all, destroy that very process of agreement. Then, defeat and failure extend beyond the battlefield and seep into the negotiating table as well,” the spokesperson said at a press conference.
