Iran seized an oil tanker flying the flag of the Marshall Islands in the Strait of Hormuz, according to flight-tracking data examined by The Associated Press on Friday. Iranian forces intercepted the ship, the Talara, as it was sailing from Ajman, United Arab Emirates, to Singapore, according to a US official. Three small boats were involved in the attack, according to British private security company Ambrey. Iran did not immediately acknowledge the seizure, but it coincides with Tehran’s growing threats to retaliate during a 12-day conflict with Israel in June during which the US attacked Iranian nuclear facilities.
