The Israeli government expects a decision on whether the United States will join the current conflict between Israel and Iran in the next 24-48 hours, according to the Times of Israel. “The expectation is that they join, but no one is pushing them … They have to make their own decision,” an Israeli official told the media outlet and added that the decision will be made in the next day or two. Just yesterday, the Wall Street Journal reported that US President Donald Trump has supposedly approved plans for an attack on Iran, but still hasn’t given the final order. The official also disclosed that Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and Defense Minister Israel Katz have a coordinated stance regarding threats to Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei, saying that “Katz always makes his statements according to what Netanyahu asks him to do. He’s not doing it on his own.”
White House: Trump still open to diplomacy with Iran
United States President Donald Trump continues to believe that diplomacy remains an option with Iran, White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt said Thursday. Speaking at her regular press briefing, the White House press secretary added that ” the president is being very clear” and that “he believes diplomacy is still an option.” Leavitt confirmed that correspondence with Iran has continued.
