European Union High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy Kaja Kallas stated on Wednesday that the bloc must ensure Russia is never again in a position to attack.
“We see no sign that Russia wants a ceasefire.
We must move away from a situation where Russia pretends they want to negotiate until they actually do. To increase the chance of peace, we must increase pressure on Russia,” Kallas shared at a press conference following the EU foreign ministers’ video meeting on Ukraine. She also underlined that any potential peace agreement should include concessions from Moscow. Moreover, the high representative called on Kiev’s partners to boost support for Ukraine and noted that the focus should be on limiting Russian capabilities, so they “wouldn’t have the chance to invade again.”
