Palestinian Authority (PA) Prime Minister Mohammad Shtayyeh (pictured) said on Monday that he submitted his government’s resignation to PA President Mahmoud Abbas later today. Shtayyeh made the announcement at a press conference and noted he submitted his resignation at the opening of the PA government meeting in Ramallah. “I see that the next stage and its challenges require new governmental and political arrangements that take into account the new reality in Gaza and the need for a Palestinian-Palestinian consensus based on Palestinian unity,” he stated. According to earlier reports by Sky News Arabia, Shayyeh, who assumed office in 2019, was planning to resign in order to create a new technocratic government by the end of the week.
