United States President Donald Trump told reporters that the European Union needs to “toughen up” its sanctions on Russia. Trump told reporters that the EU was his friend, though he stated that it needed to stop buying oil from Russia, adding that the US couldn’t be “the only ones that are full bore.” He said that the sanctions the EU imposed were “not tough enough” and that he was willing to toughen up sanctions on Russia, but the EU would need to do the same. Yesterday, the US president called for tariffs of 50%-100% on China until the Russia-Ukraine war is over in a letter to all NATO countries, adding that he’s ready to impose major sanctions on Russia when all NATO countries agree on the same sanctions and cease oil purchases from the country.
