United States President Donald Trump argued on Thursday that the “fastest way to end the humanitarian crises [sic] in Gaza is for Hamas to surrender.” In a post on his Truth Social account, the president also called for the militant group to release the hostages. His comments coincided with US Special Envoy to the Middle East Steve Witkoff’s visit to Israel, where he is expected to meet with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu. They are expected to discuss the Gaza ceasefire efforts as well as Iran.
Trump: Canada’s Palestine move makes it hard to get deal
United States President Donald Trump criticized Canada after Prime Minister Mark Carney announced support for Palestinian statehood. “Wow! Canada has just announced that it is backing statehood for Palestine,” Trump posted on Truth Social. “That will make it very hard for us to make a Trade Deal with them. Oh’ Canada!!!” His remarks come just days before an August 1 deadline to strike a trade deal and avoid new US tariffs on Canadian goods.
