United States President Donald Trump said during a Fox News interview that he hoped to lead settlement negotiations for the Ukraine-Russia conflict, though he once again vowed “massive sanctions,” if Russia refused to settle. “If they don’t settle this war soon,” Trump said, “I’m going to put massive tariffs on Russia and massive taxes and also big sanctions.” He then clarified, “I don’t want to do that, I love the Russian people, they’re great people, but we got to get this war ended.” Trump added that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky “wants to settle now, he’s had enough,” saying of the Ukrainian people that “they were brave but we gave them billions of dollars.”
