Oil futures extended gains on Wednesday, soaring more than 6% after United States President Donald Trump threatened to hit Iran “hard” in response to last night’s attack on US forces from Tehran. Speaking to Fox, the US president claimed he would “beat the fucking shit out of them” and that Iran would “get a beating” because of its actions. Brent for deliveries in September surged 6.75% to go for $89.77 per barrel, while West Texas Intermediate (WTI) for settlements in September rallied 6.62% to $84.51 per barrel at 8:22 am ET.
