Ukraine’s permanent mission to the international organizations in Vienna said in a letter sent to the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) published on Thursday that the threat Russia could attack the former country’s nuclear facilities remains. “The Russian Federation continues to deliberately target Ukraine’s energy infrastructure, intending to disrupt the operation of the country’s nuclear power plants, which provide most of Ukraine’s electricity,” the mission’s letter read. It added that on August 26, Russia attacked its energy infrastructure, which resulted in several nuclear power plants or their parts being disconnected from the grid. Ukraine urged the agency to forward the notice to the IAEA’s members and help de-escalate the situation.
