The Consumer Sentiment Index in the United States declined 5.1% in June compared to the month prior to stand at 65.6, a preliminary report released by the University of Michigan showed on Friday. However, the figure climbed by 2.2% on an annual level. The Current Economic Conditions Index tumbled 10.2% in the reported period compared to April and fell by 9.3% from June 2023, amounting to 62.5 points. The Index of Consumer Expectations decreased by 1.7% on a monthly basis but grew by 10.6% on a yearly basis, coming in at 67.6. “Year-ahead inflation expectations were unchanged this month at 3.3%, above the 2.3-3.0% range seen in the two years prior to the pandemic. Long-run inflation expectations inched up from 3.0% last month to 3.1% this month,” it was specified in the report.
