United States President Joe Biden’s administration is considering sending Terminal High Altitude Area Defense (THAAD) air defense systems to Israel, a US official told The Times of Israel. Previously, Israeli media reported that the US plans to deploy the anti-ballistic missile system in Israel and send American forces to operate it in order to be prepared for the highly anticipated Israeli retaliation after the recent Iranian missile attack. The THAAD is a US defense system designed to target incoming short, medium, and intermediate-range ballistic missiles in their terminal phase with hit-to-kill technology.
